My Passion Project, Six Beats Of Separation a.k.a My Life's Calling Had a Major Leap This Week... / by Jason Joseph

Guns n Roses Guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal Sits For the Inaugural Installation of Six Beats Of Separation

The introductory website for Six Beats Of Separation

Many of you following know me personally or though the industry, and you're well aware of my project Six Beats Of Separation For those of you who don't, click through to read all about it. It is a charity music photo project that explores  the art of sharing. I sit with Celebrities of all walks of celebrity, and photograph them listening to their favorite song. As I do, I simultaneously photograph the song as its being played on an iPod. The time-stamp of the song then becomes part of the image's title. Thus connecting the viewer and art collector to the exact moment in the song which the image was made. Prints and posters are offered for sale on the website and the proceeds go to the charity of each participating celebrity's choice.
Pause for the oohs and ahs... (I'm thrilled to be able to say that it is almost a guarantee that at this point everyone who hears of the project... their face lights up, and they exclaim joy. It is for this reason that I know I am on the right track. Making people feel something wonderful is a blessing this project has given me.)
I've been in talks with potential sponsors and it looks very very good for the future of Six Beats, and for countless charities!
However...we must form the structure of the business still, and this week many steps were taken to solidify Six Beats' Future. I'd like to share those with you here...

This is the lobby of You Tube Space New York. A 10,000 sq. foot facility. The Studios are even nicer than the lobby.

The first bit of big news is....
YouTubeSpaces.....is now our new home!
It was a very successful week of meetings in NYC.
You Tube has amazing production studios in several cities around the globe, and most importantly one in New York and one in L.A. that will serve as a home to Six Beats of Separation.

The studio is fully equipped with RED cameras, and all the lights and grip equipment (All in brand new tip top condition I might add) we could ever need.
The control rooms are state of the art. The editing suites equally so. The lobby... doesn't do the rest of the space (Which is tremendous) justice.
The celebrities will have their own private entrance completely obscured from the public. There is plenty of private areas available, as well as room for catering.
The studio is in the same building in NYC as The Food Network, and NY1 News. Interesting people always coming and going. Last Time i was in the building for a shoot with an anchor from NY1 News, I ran into an Italian director who was there to shoot with Giada De Laurentiis from The Food Network. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that just being there in the building will lead to an additional celebrity participation at some point...

I wanted to share this with you as I know while many of you do know of the project, so many are yet to be turned on to it. And sharing the physicalities of the project as it becomes more real, is a very exciting part of the process. One I thought you all might enjoy seeing, as it gestates.

Other Highlights of the Week...

The Folks at Foto Care NYC are Ready To Roll at a Moments Notice

The week was loaded with meetings several of which led to adding 2 more expertly accomplished businessmen to the board of advisors for Six Beats. Robert Anderson was the first to come on board, and his guidance is key in brining things to fruition (This is a tremendous step in  getting everything ready to be able to accept sponsors money.. then it is GO time!)

I also met with the awesome people at Foto Care Ltd....they are working with me on designing a lighting system for something special I'm working on that is directly related to Six Beats. This is a rig never before used in photography, and groundbreaking (Or I should say studio breaking) in nature. You'll have to stay tuned here on the blog to see just what I mean. We are planing a video walk through of the setup with detailed specs, and a demonstration on location and in studio.

Oh... what a ride this is going to be!
Looking forward to taking you all on this journey with me.
